Tri Rookies

Here are some informative websites to help you get going.

Also, please use the Forum to ask questions of our more experienced racers. They are always willing to help.

And don't be too intimdated by the banter there. We have done a very scientific and highly classified study indicating that an athletes level of sarcasm and sillyness increases proportionally with speed and experience.

www.beginnertriathlete.com

This site has many tools for the novice and well trained Triathlete. The site has several tools and articles to support your START in the sport, but don't be fooled, it also helps the well season Triathlete.

Interesting items your will find on this site:

  • Training log – Keep a daily log as simple as you want to very detailed with HR, daily caloric intake, etc.
  • Articles – Updated daily, sometimes focused on the new Triathlete, but also gear reviews, and articles written by actual Beginner Triathlete members.
  • Training Schedules – Schedules for all distances of triathlon. These training schedules can be transferred over to your “daily log” for easy access and reminder.

You can join and pay a fee for annual access to more detailed training schedules. The levels are Bronze, Silver, and Gold memberships, or you can use all of the basics for free.

www.trifind.com

This is an excellent site to find multi-sport races ALL OVER the world. The races are broken down by Country and then by State. They do a great job at posting races the second they are available and do a good job keeping the race schedules current.

Tri Find also keeps a good record of previous years race results. They will also have the official website of the actual race (if it is available) and link to the race registration site so you can GET IN THE ACTION!!!!!!

http://www.usatriathlon.org/

USAT Official Triathlon Site.

You should become a USAT member if you are going to do more than one triathlon just for cost reasons. Most all races require you to be a USAT member or purchase a one day USAT membership. The ANNUAL membership will pay for itself if you are going to do at least 3 races since the one day membership is usually about $10-$15.

If you purchased a one day membership and decide to do more races, you can have your one-day membership cost taken off your annual membership cost of $39.99 – Go to this site for details: http://www.usatriathlon.org/MultiSport101/JoinUSAT/OneDayLicense.aspx

USAT profile builder.

Did you know that you only need to do THREE triathlons in a race year to get a national ranking!!!??? This is really cool. Go onto USAT Profile Builder and create you profile and make sure your races are registered and then at the end of the year check your rankings.
